The Megalopolis Saxophone Orchestra: Call for Scores

The Megalopolis Saxophone Orchestra (MSO) announces its first-ever Call for Scores, aimed to highlight and strengthen the saxophone’s role in the 21st century.

Composers are invited to submit saxophone quartets to be performed by members of the MSO throughout the 2018-19 season. Four winners will be selected to have their works performed at a concert in either Boston or New York City, and all concerts will be recorded.

Of these four winners, one will be awarded the title of Composer-in-Residence for the season; a position that includes a $500 commissioning fee towards the composition of a new work for saxophone orchestra. The opportunity also includes a chance to lecture on their music at Brookline Adult and Music Education, a performance of their saxophone quartet, and a chance to work closely with the MSO while composing a new work for the ensemble.
